hello helen

We've got a newbie here at Fruit Towers. Here's a photo of her mug below.

Helen joins our Sales and Marketing Team. Her strengths include halloween costume making, dancing to 80s music, celebrity gossip (her special topic being US stars as opposed to Irish and UK celebs) and spotting the Irish rugby team's bus drive past the Fruit Towers window (see Ali's fantastic paparazzi attempt below).

 

Helen will be manning the much loved Banana Phone and taking calls from all you lovely smoothie drinkers. So if you would like to chat about any of the above topics, or anything else, like Jedward or your favourite breed of dog (Helen's is a Pugland - it's a mix of a Pug and a Westie), then give her a call.

Her first task is to come up with her Fruit Name. Ali's is Fruiteteer because she's a Marketeer....get it? Brendan's is Elder Lemon, but he's not too keen on that one. What do you think Helen's Fruit Name should be? The best suggestion will win something tasty.

It's all over

Our big game of consequences is done and dusted, finito, all over. We asked for young writers and young writers is exactly what we got.

26 days of chin scratching, eye squinting, nail biting, thinking and pondering, story reading and line writing later and we have a fabulously entertaining completed story from each letter of the alphabet. 

A huge big massive well done to everyone who entered, the standard of story-telling was really high.

We still love you bananas

Now don’t get us wrong we LOVE bananas. Remember bananarama? 'it's a cruel, cruel summer, leaving me here on my own...' 'you walk out when I walk in, can't you see the state I'm in?' ....they were the best. And banana boats are pretty cool too...

But there are absolutely NO bananas in our new kiwis, apples and limes smoothie at all. Not even one. Not even a hint of one. Only three days to go...

Only three days left in our Online Game of Consequences. My oh my, how time flies by. We’ve been keeping a close eye on things, on how the stories are going, and we have to say we’re so proud of all the little writers we have here on our Emerald Isle.  

So well done everybody who has entered so far. Not a whole lot of work has been getting done in Fruit Towers in the last few weeks as we’ve been too busy reading all your brilliant story lines. What are we going to do with ourselves next week?

What's your hidden talent?

So the other night at a gathering in a friends house I discovered that I had a hidden talent - throwing a winged spear through the air into a wooden board. Yes that's right, darts. Who knew? Not only had I never played before but I was up against some very over-confident very experienced young men (you know who you are), who quickly lost their mojo when I landed two bulls eyes in a row to win the game. I'm still smiling about it three days later. 

So it got me thinking, how many people out there have a hidden talent that they don't know about? Or even better, have a talent they know about but don't want to admit to? I got on the case and asked around, and boy are my mates a talented lot....Sarah admitted to me that she can play the piano perfectly while lying on the ground with her two hands crossed behind her head (how she discovered she could do this I have no idea). Claire is double jointed so she can bend her thumb right back without breaking it (arghhhh), and Mike told me that he can sleep for 24 hours straight without waking (ah, not exactly a talent in most people's books Mike but we'll give it to you).

So come on people, spill the beans, what are your hidden talents? We'll pick our favourite and shower you with innocent goodies.

So long, farewell, cranberries & raspberries goodbye...

Cranberries & raspberries was one of the first recipes we ever made and like a trusted friend, it’s stuck with us through the good times, the bad times and the dodgy haircuts.

Now it’s time to put this recipe out to pasture, bid it a fond farewell and let our other recipes take the limelight.

Our Big Game of Consequences has been running now for 14 days and we are sooo impressed with the standard of winning entries that we just had to blog about it here. What an imaginative little bunch of budding writers we have here in Ireland…..
