Text books out, turn to page 34, and complete exercises 1 to 12... sounds like a typical day at school. Not last Friday though, when we paid a visit to two schools and went all operation transformation and brought along bunting, deck chairs, bean bags, fake grass, lots of smoothies and a wonderful magician called Matt.
During last year's innocent Big Knit we received a whopping 15,000 hats from schools across the country. To thank some of the pupils involved for their effort and endless creativity we decided to pay two schools a visit to award their effort and innocentify their schools for the day.
First up, we dropped into St Josephs NS in New Ross to give a Best Group Knitters award to Sr Eucharia and her fifth class pupils who sent us an amazing 450 hats as part of the innocent Big Knit. Here's a photo of the school transformed for the day and with Matt the Magician entertaining pupils.
Sr Eucharia's class of 26 girls knit an incredible selection of hats from the very colourful, little girls with plaits, muticoloured ducks, and a mixture of hats in various shapes and colours. Matt the magician entertained the girls in between lots of singing, dancing and smoothies.
Next up was a visit to Loreto Secondary School in Kilkenny where we presented 2nd year pupil Lydia Cody with her Hat of the Year award for her black and pink feather hat. Here she is being presented with her prize along with teacher Miss Delaney (right), and Helen and Ali.
We'd like to give a special thanks to teachers Miss Delaney, Miss Hearne & Miss Murphy who got their students involved in the Big Knit and sent in over 100 hats. Without them and the staff at Loreto none of this would have been possible.
Lots of time for chilling out and taking a break from studying when we paid them a visit.
Here's a one last great big innocent thanks to all the teachers, school staff and pupils who got involved in the innocent Big Knit. Your effort and creativity really blew us away and we can't wait to get involved with more secondary and primary schools in the coming months.

Lydia Cody with her Hat of the Year award, congrats!
and this is really impressive--to all teachers and staff
